Understanding LaRue County Releases
A release ends one agency's physical custody. It does not always mean that a person is free of every restraint. Someone may leave LaRue County Detention Center after posting bond, receiving a court-ordered release, completing a local sentence, or starting probation. A state-controlled inmate housed at the same jail may leave through discharge, shock probation, mandatory reentry supervision, parole, or transfer. An immigration detainer or another warrant can cause one custodian to hand the person to another.
This distinction controls the search. A local booking and release record is the best source for a person who bonded out or finished a county sentence. The Kentucky Department of Corrections records state-inmate events. The court file explains the legal order, while the jail or DOC record shows when staff carried it out. A transfer is not a community release, even when the name disappears from Current Inmates.
- Discharge
- A sentence-expiration or final-release event recorded by the responsible corrections agency.
- Parole
- Conditional release from confinement before final sentence completion.
- Probation
- A court-ordered community sentence or suspension of confinement.
- Detainer
- A hold that can send a person to another agency after local custody ends.
LaRue County Release Paths
Release labels should be read with care. Kentucky DOC reports preserve exact operational terms, including “Mandatory Reentry Supervision - In State,” “Discharged - Minimum Expiration,” and “Shock Probation Began - In State.” A state report can prove that DOC processed its event, but it does not capture every LaRue bond-out, dismissal, or misdemeanor release.
| Release path | What it means | Best next record |
|---|---|---|
| Bond or recognizance | Release pending later court proceedings | Jail release record and court bond order |
| Time served or sentence completion | Confinement ends under the sentence | Jail record, judgment, or DOC discharge record |
| Probation or shock probation | A court places the person in the community under conditions | Court order and supervision record |
| Parole or mandatory reentry | Physical confinement ends while state supervision continues | KOOL, DOC Daily Releases, and Probation and Parole |
| Transfer or detainer | The person leaves one facility but enters another agency's custody | Transfer record and receiving-agency locator |
A dismissal can support release, but another case or hold may delay it. Likewise, a court order may be signed before jail processing ends. Read the legal authority and the actual departure record together.
Fields in LaRue Release Records
A precise LaRue County request seeks the existing booking and release material. It does not ask staff to decide whether someone “is free.” Kentucky agencies provide maintained records and are not required to create a fresh report or answer a custom questionnaire. The useful fields tie the custody event to one person and one booking.
| Field | What it establishes |
|---|---|
| Name and booking or DOC number | Which person and custody episode the entry concerns |
| Admission date and time | When the recorded custody began |
| Actual release date and time | When the releasing agency's custody ended, if recorded |
| Release type or authority | Bond, court order, sentence event, supervision, or another stated basis |
| Releasing facility | The agency or jail that ended its custody |
| Transfer or destination agency | Whether another custodian took over |
| Charges and booking photograph | The admission record linked to that booking |
Kentucky DOC Daily Releases uses a narrower field set: DOC number, name, release type, released-from facility, and highest felony class. Its dated archive includes state releases from LaRue County Detention Center. That is direct proof for those state cases, not a countywide roll of everyone who left.
LaRue Bond Release Processing
LaRue uses a local handoff that can place a payment record before the physical release. During the Circuit Court Clerk's regular weekday hours, bond is paid to the clerk and the paperwork is taken to the detention center. After hours, on weekends, and on holidays, the jail accepts eligible bond payments. The detention center bond instructions require exact cash and state that the jail cannot make change or accept cards for bonds, fines, or costs.
Cash bonds of $10,000 or more and property bonds go through the clerk. The published process describes a $25 clerk filing fee, a $5 jail filing fee, and an applicable $30 warrant-service fee in the listed circumstances. Those are bond-processing charges. They are not fees for a public-record request, and the court's release authority should still be paired with the jail's completed release entry.
Request LaRue County Release Records
The LaRue County Detention Center is the likely operational custodian for a county booking sheet, release entry, and booking photo. The county also posts a request-to-inspect form. Call the detention center first if the correct custodian is unclear. Describe the record, person, booking, and date range as closely as possible.
- Identify the full name, date of birth when appropriate, and approximate booking period.
- Ask for the existing booking and release record, including date, time, authority, disposition, and transfer field.
- Choose inspection or an electronic copy and supply the contact information required by the chosen method.
- Keep proof of submission and request a written statutory reason for any withholding or redaction.
- Request the court order separately when the legal reason for release also matters.

For a state offender record, written requests may go to Kentucky DOC Open Records. Include the full name and date of birth or offender number. DOC lists paper copies at ten cents per released page, a compact disc at $1 plus postage, and a USB drive at about $2.50 plus postage. It cites a five-business-day response period under KRS 197.025.
Law and LaRue Release Access
The Kentucky Open Records Act, KRS 61.870 through 61.884, governs executive-branch public records. KRS 61.872 addresses inspection, KRS 61.874 addresses copies and fees, and KRS 61.878 contains exemptions. The law does not require an agency to create a list it does not maintain. A request for existing release-log entries over a defined period is more precise than a demand that staff build a new 72-hour spreadsheet.
Juvenile, medical, security-sensitive, sealed, and expunged material may be withheld or redacted under controlling law. The Kentucky Courts expungement process depends on the case, disposition, completion requirements, waiting period, and court order. A missing online case or photo does not by itself prove expungement. Public display can end before agency retention does.
Property After a LaRue Release
Property has a firm local deadline. The detention center property policy says property left for 30 days after release will be destroyed without further notice. Before release, an approved friend or family member may sign out property with the detained person's consent, but all non-clothing property must be removed together.
Act promptly and confirm the facility's current procedure. The detention-center home page also says staff will try to verify and correct reported inmate-record errors. A caller should identify the exact booking, field, and claimed error rather than making a general request to change a record.
Note: The published rule gives a deadline, but it does not promise a release-day exit, waiting area, or pickup method.
LaRue Court Records After Release
LaRue District and Circuit records can explain why custody changed after a live jail row disappears. District Court handles misdemeanors, arraignments, traffic matters, and felony probable-cause proceedings. Felony prosecution after indictment proceeds in Circuit Court. A search may therefore need both paths, depending on the stage of the case.
The CourtNet 2.0 portal can preserve charges, docket events, bond orders, disposition, sentence, probation, revocation, and later orders. Older records may be offsite or destroyed under an authorized schedule, so ask the clerk for file-location information when a portal search is incomplete. A court entry explains legal authority. The jail or DOC entry confirms when physical custody ended.
The official Kentucky court directory is the route to clerk contacts. The pictured CourtNet access screen illustrates why a case record remains useful after roster turnover.
CourtNet is a court-record channel, not proof that jail staff executed an order at the same moment it was entered.
Find Released LaRue County Inmates
Start with the last confirmed custodian. The official local portal is labeled Current Inmates, so an absent name is only a signal to check release and transfer sources. It can reflect release, movement, correction, or another agency's pickup. For a named person, use a custody-specific sequence.
- Check the LaRue Current Inmates portal only to learn whether the person is still publicly listed.
- Call the detention center and request its release-record procedure for a local booking.
- Review the District or Circuit case for bond, dismissal, sentence, probation, or revocation action.
- For a state inmate, search KOOL and the relevant Kentucky DOC Daily Releases report.
- Use VINE for a custody-change status or future alert, then confirm through the originating agency.
- Use BOP, ICE, or USMS sources only when federal or immigration custody applies.
LaRue does not publish a verified rolling county feed of people released last 24 hours. For older cases, work backward from the court case and sentence, then request the jail and DOC records separately if needed.
Kentucky Search for LaRue Releases
The Kentucky Online Offender Lookup, or KOOL, covers state offenders, including some people housed at LaRue County Detention Center. It does not cover every pretrial detainee or local misdemeanor sentence. Search broadly enough to include a former offender, compare identifiers, and open the detail only after confirming the correct person.
| Search field or result | How to use it |
|---|---|
| DOC number | Best way to distinguish similar names |
| Name | Begin with last name and enough first-name detail to narrow results |
| Offender type | Use a category broad enough to include former or supervised offenders |
| Status and location | Read these before interpreting any sentence date |
| Parole and expiration fields | Treat eligibility, minimum, and maximum dates as distinct calculations |
Cross-check an actual state release in the Kentucky DOC Daily Releases archive. A current location at LaRue County Detention Center indicates custody. A released or discharged status, paired with the dated report, is the stronger former-offender signal.
LaRue Recent Release Record Limits
The LaRue jail publishes a browser-based Current Inmates list, not a confirmed recent-release archive. No official county 24-hour window, 72-hour window, display-retention rule, or sheriff mobile application was verified. Do not substitute current bookings for people already released.
Kentucky DOC's date-by-date PDFs are a durable alternative only for state-controlled people. To check three dates, open three reports and search the “Released From” column for LaRue County Detention Center. Read the heading inside each PDF because at least one archive link label differed from its document date. Local bond-outs and court releases still require the jail and court route.
Getting Home After LaRue Release
No documented fixed-route transit or passenger rail serves the Hodgenville study area. CKCATS is the named regional public transportation provider and includes LaRue in its service geography, but it does not promise unreserved pickup from the jail.
Ask in advance about eligibility, reservation time, pickup point, and service hours. A confirmed release time should come from the jail, not a transit estimate. No official source states a standard release hour, processing duration, exit door, or family waiting area.
LaRue Supervision After Release
Kentucky's Parole Board makes parole-related decisions, while the Department of Corrections Division of Probation and Parole supervises people in the community. Region 3 includes LaRue County. Probation comes from a court order; parole follows a prison sentence; mandatory reentry supervision is a separate statutory route. The exact release label matters.
Verify the person's KOOL status, review the court order for probation, and call District 6 to confirm the reporting office. A hearing date means consideration, not release. The jail's GED, recovery, church, parenting, life-skills, and work-detail programs are in-custody preparation and do not prove that the same services continue afterward. The LaRue parole and probation record supplies the supervision detail.
Changing LaRue Release Dates
Kentucky sentence dates require fresh verification. In July 2026, DOC posted a notice about court-ordered recalculations for some people previously treated under an 85-percent rule while the state appeals. Parole eligibility also changed for certain nonviolent Class D felony sentences. Old screenshots may therefore be materially wrong.
Read current KOOL fields by their exact labels and compare the current statute and official notice close to the date. Credits, detainers, amended judgments, parole action, revocation, litigation, and data correction can all change the result. A projected date is not the physical exit event.
LaRue Release Alerts and Federal Records
Kentucky VINELink can show a custody status for one matching record and register future notifications. LaRue's local VINE page says its booking-system information refreshes every 15 minutes. That is a useful signal, not certified proof. Register separately when both jail and DOC records exist, and confirm a released status with the jail or DOC report.
Federal custody uses different systems. The BOP Inmate Locator can show a release date and “Not in BOP custody” for many former federal prisoners. That phrase does not rule out supervision or another custodian. ICE's locator concerns current immigration detention, while ICE FOIA is the record fallback. A person moved by the U.S. Marshals may remain in federal custody after leaving a local jail.
Where LaRue Release Status Appears
Match the question to the record. No single portal covers every LaRue release path.
| Source | Best use | Boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Current Inmates | Check present public listing | Not a release archive |
| Jail release record | Confirm local departure date, time, and authority | Must be requested when not online |
| Court file | Explain the legal order | Does not prove physical processing time |
| KOOL and Daily Releases | Verify a state-controlled release or discharge | Not universal for local bookings |
| VINE | Status signal and alerts | Feeds can lag |
| BOP or ICE | Federal or immigration custody | Does not cover a purely county case |
LaRue County Release Facility
LaRue County Detention Center is the one verified detention facility located in the county. It holds local detainees and some state-controlled inmates. Local releases go through the jail and court record. State releases use KOOL and Kentucky DOC Daily Releases. A transfer, federal movement, or immigration detainer requires the receiving agency's record.
No state prison, federal prison, dedicated ICE detention center, regional jail, or municipal holding facility was verified inside LaRue County. That does not prevent a person arrested locally from being transferred elsewhere. Once custody changes, the receiving agency becomes the current source.
